Denise G. Occhiogrosso, 59, of Brick, N.J., a former Staten Islander and business owner, died Monday in Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune, N.J.
Born in Brooklyn, she lived in Rossville for 20 years before settling in Brick.
After graduating from Fort Hamilton High School, Ms. Occhiogrosso attended Pace University in Manhattan. She then spent more than 10 years in the mortgage business as an underwriter. Ms. Occhiogrosso later opened her own baby clothing design business, The Baby Galleria, in which she hand-crocheted all the baby clothing she sold.
Along with crocheting, Ms. Occhiogrosso liked spending her time on the beaches in Florida with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking.
Surviving are her mother, Gloria Occhiogrosso; one son, Joseph Santini; one daughter, Michele Santini, and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be Friday from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, with a mass at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Rossville. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
