Christopher F. (Butchie) Cirillo, 64, of Rossville, a decorated U.S. Army veteran who was disabled during the Vietnam War, died Monday in the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Brooklyn.
Born in Brooklyn, he grew up there and graduated from Alexander Hamilton High School,where he played saxophone in the band and was an excellent baseball and football player.
Mr. Cirillo was drafted into the U.S. Army at age 18 and served in the Infantry from 1967 to 1970. The private first class saw combat in the Vietnam War and was awarded the Bronze Star.
He moved to Pembroke Pines, Fla.in 1986, and lived there until settling in Rossville in 2010.
Mr. Cirillo enjoyed listening to the music of the 1940s, 1950s and 60s, ann was an avid Giants and Yankees fan. He also enjoyed visits to Atlantic City.
He attended St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Rossville.
Surviving are his daughter, Christina Sears; his mother, Jean Cirillo; his brother, Joseph, and two grandsons.
The funeral will be Friday from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, with a mass at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
