Longtime New Springville resident Charles Geraci, 84, a retired pressman who will be remembered for his easygoing manner and pleasant personality, died Sunday in Staten Island University Hospital, Ocean Breeze.
Born and raised in Queens. In 1965, he settled in New Springville.
Mr. Geraci served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany.
He worked for 30 years as a pressman at the New York Daily News. He retired in 1987.
Mr. Geraci was an enthusiastic New York Yankees fan.
He lived life to the fullest and enjoyed every social occasion, his family said. He was personable and well-liked by all, they added.
Mr. Geraci most loved being with his family.
He was a parishioner of St. Teresa's R.C. Church, Castleton Corners.
His son, Anthony, died in 2006.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Phyllis; his sons, Andrew and John; his brother Richard, and eight grandchildren.
The funeral will be Wednesday from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, with a mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Teresa's Church. Arrangements include cremation.
