Native Staten Islander Catherine M. Vantine, 54, of Tottenville, a Mount Loretto employee for nearly three decades, whose sunny disposition was an inspiration to all, died Tuesday in Staten Island University Hospital, Ocean Breeze.
Born in Pleasant Plains, she moved to Tottenville in 1969.
Ms. Vantine worked in the housekeeping and food services departments at the Mission of the Immaculate Virgin Mount Loretto, Pleasant Plains, from 1984 until the time of her death.
She was a graduate of the Hungerford School.
Ms. Vantine loved Sunday dinners with her family and annual vacations to Aruba.
She was also devoted to her many pets.
No matter when you saw her, she always had a smile on her face, said her mother, Annette Vantine.
She attended Our Lady Help of Christians R.C. Church, Tottenville.
She is survived by her companion of 33 years, Harry Adams; her mother, Annette; six sisters, Lynn Hartnett, Debra Murphy, Donna Zimmer, Judy Mattsson, Ellen Bassano and Lori Potestivo, and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Saturday from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, with a mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady Help of Christians Church. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
