Catherine Hawkins

Catherine Virginia Hawkins, 56, a retired senior accountant, who will be remembered for her smile and dedication to her family, died Sunday in Metropolitan Jewish Health System Hospice, Brooklyn.

The Tottenville native was born Catherine Virginia Stock. She lived in Eltingville, Annadale and Great Kills before moving to Brooklyn in 1998.

She graduated from St. Joseph-by-the Sea High School in 1977, and earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Wagner College, Grymes Hill and was a member of the dean's list.

She worked as a senior accountant at 32BJ Service Workers Union Benefit Funds in Manhattan for 8 years, until retiring in 2015.

She loved to travel, enjoyed the outdoors, biking, canoeing, and going to the beach. She also liked to socialize, read and was skilled in the art of Kung Fu.

She is survived by her son, James William; her brothers, Walter A. and George Stock.

The funeral will be Thursday from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady Help of Christian R.C. Church, both in Tottenville. Arrangements include cremation.
