Caroline Dellatte, 56, of Rossville, a homemaker who cherished her family and will be remembered for her warm and caring nature, died Tuesday in Staten Island University Hospital, Prince's Bay.
Born Caroline Manuele in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, she graduated from Lafayette High School in her native borough. She moved to Rossville 31 years ago.
She and David Dellatte were high school sweethearts who met and fell in love when they were teenagers. The couple wed in Brooklyn 34 years ago.
Mrs. Dellatte most loved being with her family. She also enjoyed reading, cooking and baking, and loved her dog, Winston, a Lhasa Apso.
She was incredibly warm and caring, a wonderful woman, mother and loving aunt. She was my best friend, said her daughter, Cara Dellatte.
Surviving Mrs. Dellatte, along with David, her husband, and her daughter, Cara, are her son, Michael; her brothers, Joseph and John Manuele, and her sisters, Josephine Ameduri and Anna Catello.
The funeral will be Friday from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, with a mass at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Rossville. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
