Caroline Clark

Caroline Clark September 15th, 1942- May 25th, 2018 Caroline M Clark (nee Ruhl) was born on September 15th, 1942 in Manhattan, to the late Henry and Evelyn Ruhl. She passed away peacefully on Friday May 25th. She was the second of seven children. She was pre-deceased by her brothers Henry Ruhl, Douglas Ruhl, and Timothy Ruhl. She is survived by her sisters Mary Moore and Joanne Harness, and brother William Ruhl, Sister in law, Constance Ruhl, and brother in law Ted Harness. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. She was lovingly called “Sis” by her siblings and their families. She graduated from Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Brooklyn in 1960. In 1965 she married her devoted husband of 53 years George Clark Sr. Caroline and George have two children George Clark Jr. and Michele Clark Groff. Caroline was a wonderful wife and an incredible mother to her children. She was a proud, doting grandmother to her five grandchildren. She was pre- deceased by her oldest grandson Andrew (A.J.) Clark. She is survived by her grandsons, George Clark III and Brandon Clark, and her granddaughters, Nicole Clark, and Caroline Groff. Caroline was an awesome mother in law and was adored by her daughter in law Sheryl Clark and her son in law Kevin Groff. Caroline would spend endless hours attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, dance recitals and scouting activities. She truly was a dedicated and devoted grandma. As a young mother, she had also become involved in all her children’s activities. She served as P.T.A. president at P.S 3 for many years, as well as served on the P.T.A. at I.S. 34 and Tottenville High School. She was also a Cub Scout leader in Pack 4. Caroline began working at Staten Island University South as a secretary, where she worked for many years, until she retired in 1999. Throughout the years Caroline had loved to bowl and enjoyed taking ceramic classes where she made many beautiful keepsakes for her family to cherish. She was a gifted seamstress and loved to crochet. She was an avid traveler and had been to many different countries. She also was on route to visiting all 50 states and had visited 43 of them. Caroline and George Sr. enjoyed spending their winter months in Zihuantanejo, Mexico, where they would stay from late December to Early March, making sure they were back home to celebrate their grandchildren’s birthday’s which began in mid- March. She had recently celebrated her 75th birthday with a trip to Maine, where she spent many years visiting her family as a child, and then later spending summers with her own family. Caroline loved to shop and was considered by her family to be QVC’s “biggest shopper.” She was a very generous woman and would do anything she could for you, whenever you needed it. She was truly loved and admired by all who came to know her. She had a fun- loving spirit and people just loved being around her. Caroline really enjoyed spending time with her “Dominoes Girls”. She loved to play and looked forward to spending time with them every Wednesday. She also delighted in having her manicures/ pedicures. She never missed those appointments! Caroline’s greatest accomplishment would be the lessons of love, selflessness, kindness, generosity, and support that she bestowed upon her entire family, teaching her grandchildren what a true “Angel on Earth really is.” She leaves us with a lifelong legacy of unconditional love.
