STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Lifelong Staten Islander Carol Anne Bergh, 74, of Tottenville, the loving matriarch of three generations, died Sunday in Clove Lakes Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, in Castleton Corners. She had resided there for two months.
The former Carol Anne Meyer grew up in Grant City and graduated from New Dorp High School. She settled in Tottenville after she and Robert Bergh were married in 1956.
Nothing made Mrs. Bergh happier than being surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
"She was a very loving, caring woman; she loved spending time with her family," said her daughter, Kimberly Bergh. "Especially her grandkids and great grandkids."
Mrs. Bergh was loved to knit and crochet and took great pleasure in making hats and blankets for those she loved. She also enjoyed trips to Atlantic City.
She was a parishioner of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Tottenville.
Robert Sr., her husband of 40 years, died in 1996. Her son, Robert Jr., died in 1962.
Surviving, along with her daughter, Kimberly, are her son, Gary Bergh; her daughter, Sharon Kelly; a sister, Anne Bendon; three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be tomorrow from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, with a service at noon in St. Stephen's Church. Arrangements include cremation.
