STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Carol Araneda, 73, of Meiers Corners, died Friday at the Golden Gate Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Meiers Corners.
Born Carol Roberti in Canarsie, Brooklyn, she moved to Rossville in 1995, and to Toms River, N.J., in 2001 before moving back to the Island to Meiers Corners a year-and-a-half ago.
A homemaker, she enjoyed cooking, trips to Atlantic City, bowling, playing online computer games, and chatting with friends online.
"She was known for her world-famous meatballs," said her granddaughter, Kristin DiSalvo.
Mrs. Araneda was a parishioner of St. Joseph-St. Thomas R.C. Parish, Pleasant Plains.
Surviving are her husband of 53 years, John; two sons, Joe and John; three daughters, Theresa Araneda, Rosie DiSalvo and Amanda Araneda, and four grandchildren.
The funeral is Tuesday from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, with a mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Thomas the Apostle R.C. Church, Pleasant Plains. Burial will follow in Pine Lawn Memorial Park on Long Island.
