Carl W. Hausheer
After graduating from Xavier High School and attending General Motors Institute, Carl served in the US Army in Korea. Upon returning home, he married his lovely bride of 62 years, Margie Hausheer and was the loving father of their four children, Carl, Doranne, Anne Marie and Ruth and his eleven grandchildren. He is known and beloved by his many nieces and nephews for his quick smile, laughing eyes and wearing the most colorful socks to the party.
Since 1965, he served faithfully as a lector at Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish and then at Our Lady Help of Christians. He was honored for his volunteer efforts to beautify High Rock Park in creating and tending a garden for all to enjoy, for assisting the Greenbelt Conservancy's Halloween Walk, for his many service hours delivering meals for Meals on Wheels, for helping the Boys Scouts build a lodge at Pouch Camp, and for serving on the Board of Directors of the Visiting Nurse Association of Staten Island. He later volunteered for Staten Island University Hospital in the rehabilitation department.
The family requests, that, in lieu of flowers, charitable donations be offered to American Diabetes association, http://www.diabetes.org/ or other benevolent causes.
