Asuncion Longueira, 96, passed away on February 17, 2025.
Asunción Longueira (Connie) was born in Manhattan in 1928. A daughter of Spanish immigrants, she grew up on the lively, diverse Lower East Side. She graduated from Washington Irving High School and attended Hunter College. She began her work life as a teenager, eventually landing a job at Irving Trust Company on Wall Street — where she worked her way up to Assistant Vice-President, a notable achievement in the still largely male world of large banks.
She traveled much of the world, often with her longtime partner, Jack. She enjoyed friendships, reading, music, movies, and above all the company of her family, to whom she was loving and generous. In retirement, she enjoyed life at her part-time home in Florida.
She is survived by her sister Louise Meola and nephews Frank, Daniel, Michael, Robert, and Joseph and nieces Maureen, Louise, and Dorothy, as well as several cousins.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimer’s research, cancer research, or a charity of choice.
