Arsenio Velez

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son in law, brother, uncle, and friend, Arsenio (Sonny) Velez, 65, passed peacefully at home in Brodheadsville, PA with his devoted wife by his side on December 12, 2022.
Sonny was born on January 8, 1957 in New York, NY and eventually settled with his family in Staten Island, NY. He attended Curtis High School and then met his soulmate, Caroline Dietsch. They were married in 1976.

He worked for the NYC Department of Sanitation for many years and retired in 2007. Sonny was a proud member of Local 831. He relocated to Pennsylvania in 2010 and continued his love of driving trucks. He enjoyed life to the fullest. He went anywhere and everywhere with his wife, hand in hand, side by side. He was a devoted husband and father.  He was there for everyone and loved by all.
Sonny enjoyed taking cruises and vacationing with family. He also enjoyed boating, fishing, and motorcycle touring with his sons and friends. He loved classic cars and was passionate about working on his Chevelle.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Caroline Velez. He had 4 sons, Arsenio III & wife Lauren, Jason & fiancé Marisol, Brian (preceded in death in 1981), and Anthony & wife Cara. 13 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. Adored uncle of many nieces and nephews. He was truly one in a million.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Arsenio's name to Dale & Francis Hughes Cancer Center in East Stroudsburg.
