Arlene Klose Schweikert
January 22, 1933 - February 16, 2024
Arlene L. Schweikert 91, passed away peacefully, February 16, 2024, surrounded by family, in the Tottenville home she lived in for the past 68 years. Born Arlene Louise Klose, in Travis, she lived on Parrish Avenue until March 1949, when she married Francis X. Schweikert. In 1956 Arlene and Francis moved to Sprague Avenue in Tottenville where they raised 5 children.
Arlene worked in the registrar's office for the College of Staten Island in Willowbrook, for sixteen years. She also worked in Lang's Hardware in Tottenville. Arlene was a Catholic Daughter, a member of the Tottenville Garden Club and Den Mother for Cub Scout Troop 46. In the 1950's, she was a member of the "Harlequins", a local group, that put on plays at Tottenville's legion hall and Saint Stephens Church. Affectionately known as Mimi, Arlene's greatest joy in life was family, especially her grandchildren.
Arlene is survived by her sons Robert (Arlene), Thomas (Roseanne), Ivan (Mary), and a daughter Kathleen Lagno (Neason), nine grandchildren, nine great grand children, and two great great grandchildren. Arlene is predeceased by her husband, Francis Xavier Schweikert, a son, David Francis Schweikert, and grand daughter Jessica Rose Schweikert. Interment will be at Moravian Cemetery.
