Anthony J. Ponsiglione, 75, died peacefully at home after a long illness with his family at his side on July 26, 2016.
He was born in Brooklyn, then moved to Staten Island to Princes Bay in 1977, then to Pompano Beach, Fla.
Anthony graduated from Manuel High School (presently John Jay H.S.), then was a New York City firefighter, retiring in 1972.
Anthony was a big sports fan, especially the Brooklyn Dodgers and the Oakland Raiders. He was a history buff, he enjoyed the beach and traveling, and was an old movie buff. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He enjoyed spending time with his friends and was always telling jokes. Anthony was a great supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital .
Anthony is survived by his wife, Marie; his children, Michael Ponsiglione and Theresa Cialino, and his grandchildren, Michael and Matthew Ponsiglione, Danielle Roman, Gianna Hope and John Anthony Cialino. He was predeceased by his brother, Alexander (Big Boy).
A Mass of Christian Burial will on Saturday at Our Lady Star of the Sea R.C. Church at 10 a.m. Entombment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
Friends may visit on Thursday and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Anthony's name would be appreciated.

Visitation: Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home Thursday, July 28, 2016 and Friday, July 29,2016 2-4 and 7-9:30 PM

Memorials: In Lieu of flowers contributions in Anthony's name to St.Jude's Children's Hospital or The American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
