Anna Shelley, 101, was called home to God on August 12, 2022, after an illness, surrounded by her family. She was a loving and devoted wife to the late James F. Shelley. They were blessed to celebrate 56 years of marriage. Anna was beloved by her children, James and Maureen, daughter-in-law Janet, and son-in-law Thomas. She was a loving grandmother to Megan (and husband John), Reid, Marissa (and husband Jude), and Marie and great-grandmother to Nora. She is predeceased by sisters Sally Hubbard and Anita Yaremko and brother William Smytana.
Anna was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, and graduated from Perth Amboy High School in the 1930s. She later relocated to New York and spent many wonderful years there with her family in Tottenville. Anna was a hard-working, remarkable woman who spent many years working in secretarial and clerical positions in the greater New York City area. Anna cherished her Catholic faith and was an active member in her church communities. She valued education and was immensely proud that all her children and grandchildren earned college degrees. During her leisure time, she enjoyed reading, shopping, and cooking. She loved and cared deeply for her family. Her family is deeply saddened by her passing which leaves a void in our hearts that can never be filled. She will forever have a special place in our hearts.
