STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Ann Bronski, 79, of Tottenville, a retired seamstress who cherished time spent with her family, died Sunday in the Verrazano Nursing Home, Tompkinsville.
Born Ann Postilio in Brooklyn, she moved to Queens in 1963, and settled in Tottenville in 1972. She entered Verrazano Nursing Home two weeks ago, after spending a year at Golden Gate Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Meiers Corners.
Mrs. Bronski graduated from the East New York Vocational High School in Brooklyn.
She worked as a seamstress for the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union for 13 years, before retiring in 1963 when she wed her husband, John. She went back to work in 1979, working at the Mission of the Immaculate Virgin at Mount Lorretto, Pleasant Plains, until 1983, and for United Cerebral Palsy from 1983 to 1986.
Mrs. Bronski loved cooking and the holidays, and especially enjoyed Christmas Eve and Sunday dinners. She liked playing bingo and taking trips to Atlantic City with her niece, Helen, and cheering on the Mets. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was a devout parishioner at Our Lady Help of Christians R.C. Church, Tottenville.
Her husband of 48 years, John, died earlier this year.
Surviving are her sons, John and Paul; her daughters, Susan Bronski and Laura Thomas; four grandchildren, and two step-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Thursday from Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, with a mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady Help of Christians R.C. Church. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
