STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Angelo (Phil) DiStefano, 77, of Tottenville, a retired city Sanitation worker who adored his family, died Thursday at home.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, he settled in Tottenville in 1971.

Mr. DiStefano served in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 to 1957 and attained the rank of airman first class.

He worked for the city Sanitation Department and retired in 1974.

Mr. DiStefano was a member of the Moose Lodge at the Beauvais Hudson Post, American Legion.

He enjoyed spending his time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mr. DiStefano was a parishioner of Our Lady Help of Christians R.C. Church, Tottenville.

His wife of 53 years, Mary, died in 2010.

Surviving are his sons, Anthony and Philip; his daughters, Susan Sleight, Ann Lamb, and Patricia Nolan; two sisters, Vera Cummings and Barbara Varone; 10 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be Monday at 10 a.m. in the Bedell Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.

Services: Funeral service will be held on Monday July 22,2013 at 10:00 AM at Bedell -Pizzo Funeral Home.Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation: Friends will be received on Saturday July 20,2013 from 7- 9- PM only and on Sunday July 21,2013 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
