Albert Michael DiSarro, born in Staten Island, NY on December 16, 1934, passed away surrounded by loved ones on November 5, 2019. He will be forever remembered for his kindness, strength, bravery, sense of humor and devotion to his family.
As the youngest of six children to Italian immigrants Michael DiSarro and Cristina Pistilli DiSarro, he learned at a young age the value of close family, strong work ethic and the pride of being an American. As a young man he enjoyed boxing and playing football. He joined the United States Marine Corps to serve during the Korean War era, then after receiving an Honorable Discharge, went to work with his father and brothers in the family excavation and concrete business. He later joined the New York City Fire Department where he had over 20 years of distinguished service.
Al was a loving husband to the late Ann Summer DiSarro, and a wonderful, devoted father of four. He was predeceased by his loving sister Filomena and brothers Angelo and John. He is survived by his children James, Sandy, Linda and Janice, his six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, his sisters Carmela and Mary, and many other loving relatives and dear friends across the country.
All who knew Al, be it close family, distant relative, or perhaps just a local neighbor, would tell you that to find a kinder, sweeter and more humble man would be an impossibility. He projected a calm, yet strong demeanor. Al had the unique quality of making other people feel good about themselves because of his great willingness and ability to simply just listen to others and not project opinion or judgment. His combination of strength and patience and human goodness will forever be remembered and missed.
