Our condolences to our dear friend, Fr. Steve Ryan, SDB, and the entire Ryan family. We had the pleasure of meeting Mr. and Mrs. John Ryan when they would visit Father Steve in Florida.

A fine, faithful, Catholic family man is surely greeted by Our Lord and His Holy Mother, and all the angels and saints with great love and joy! We wish you the Lord's peace and blessings and be assured of our prayers.

RIP Chief John Ryan, father of my good friend Father Steve Ryan SDB. GREAT MAN. Mike Hatem and I attended Chief Ryan's retirement dinner in NYC in 1995 and presented him a CFD pick head axe. He was quite impressed with this gift from the Ohio landlubbers. Six weeks after 9-11, Chief Ryan was the main escort for a group of 10 CFD members who visited NYC and attended several funerals of our FDNY brothers who paid the ultimate sacrifice. Chief Ryan used his credentials to get our group inside the gates and we stood on top of partially-destroyed Station #10 at Ground Zero for hours observing our FDNY brothers work on The Pile. Then he took us to a Manhattan steak house and secretly paid the entire tab for our group. Great memories of a great guy! May the road rise to meet him. God Bless his soul and the entire Ryan family.

In the summer of 72 the Ryans took me and my brother in while my mother who had to remained bedridden to insure healthy arrival of my soon to be brother. Uncle John was so kind, after long day at work he would pile up his kids plus my brother and I and take us for ice cream, Stewart's root beer and even made me an honorary Ryan to attend fireman picnic, I loved being Sheila Ryan for a day , my brother on the other hand wasn't so happy to be called Brian Ryan. Thanks for the memories Uncle John and may your soul rest in eternity.
