Frank Bronzo, 77, of Pleasant Plains, a retired New York City Transit Authority engineer, U.S. Navy veteran and family man, died Friday in Staten Island University Hospital, Prince's Bay.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, he lived there until moving to Pleasant Plains about 20 years ago.

Mr. Bronzo graduated from Lincoln High School in his native borough. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in electronics from RCA Institute, Manhattan.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1961 until 1969, stationed stateside and at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He attained the rank of E2.

Mr. Bronzo worked as an engineer for the city Transit Authority for many years, until retiring in 1996.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Richmond Travel Club, and the AARP.

He enjoyed visiting his country house in Elizaville, N.Y., gardening, cooking, fishing, traveling, and completing puzzles.

Mr. Bronzo was a parishioner of Our Lady Star of the Sea R.C. Church, Huguenot, where he was a member of the seniors' club.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, the former Joan Ventresca; his son, Frank Jr.; his daughter, Jeneane Chirico, and four granddaughters.

The funeral will be Wednesday from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
