Richard H. Ericksen Sr., 72, of Tottenville, a retired truck driver and a dedicated family man, died Sunday in Eger Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, Egbertville, after a week's stay.

The Brooklyn native grew up in West Brighton and attended McKee High School. He also lived in Great Kills, Mariners Harbor and South Beach before settling in Tottenville in 1993.

Mr. Ericksen first worked as a welder at the former Nassau Smelting & Refining Company in Tottenville, then became a delivery driver for the New York Daily News. He also owned a bread delivery route on the Island for 15 years before retiring.

In his younger years he raced stock cars at the former Weissglass Stadium in Port Richmond. He also enjoyed fishing and boating with his children and grandchildren.

Mr. Ericksen was a former member and founder of the Staten Island Trotters Motorcycle Club, his family said.

Surviving are his sons, Richard Jr. and Scott Thomas; a brother, Alfred (Sonny); a sister, Jerry Slivinski; five grandchildren, and his former wife, Virginia Haugland Ericksen.

The Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, is handling arrangements, including cremation.
