Longtime Staten Islander Anthony Corino, 78, of Travis, a retired carpenter, bar manager and veteran who will be remembered as a loving family man with a great sense of humor, died Wednesday at home.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, he graduated from Fort Hamilton High School in his native borough.

He moved to Graniteville in 1970 and settled in Travis in 2004.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1959 and was stationed at the Pentagon, working in the telecommunications department.

A member of Teamsters Local Union No. 385, Mr. Corino worked for 20 years as a carpenter. He then worked as a bartender and manager at a nightclub in Brooklyn for 10 years.

Mr. Corino enjoyed weekly card games with his friends, dining out, going on vacations, visiting casinos, fishing and raising tropical fish. Most of all, he treasured time spent with his family.

His children and grandchildren were his whole life, said his family.

He was preceded in death by his son, Bobby, in 2011 and his grandson, Joey Harrison, in 1989.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, the former Ann LaSalla; his son, Tommy Harrison; his daughters, Connie Ann Paccione and Denise Gerwer; his brother, Raymond; his sisters, Camille DiCasoli, Patricia Curry and Linda Callahan, and seven grandchildren.

The funeral will be Tuesday from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, with a mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Thomas the Apostle R.C. Church, Pleasant Plains. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, also Pleasant Plains.
