Anthony R. Galligano, 65, of Tottenville, a certified public accountant and a sports-minded family man, died Wednesday in Staten Island University Hospital, Ocean Breeze, of complications suffered after a fall one month ago.

Born in Brooklyn, Mr. Galligano lived in Queens from 1975 until 1980, and had lived in Tottenville since 1980.

A certified public accountant, Mr. Galligano worked for Deutsche Bank, Manhattan, for five years, retiring in 2008. Prior to that employment, he worked for Ebasco, an engineering firm in the World Trade Center, from 1975 until 1995. Mr. Galligano also had prepared taxes privately for mostly Staten Island clients since 1975.

A graduate of Bishop Loughlin High School, Mr. Galligano earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from St. Francis College, both in Brooklyln. He also held a Master of Science degree in accounting from Pace University, Manhattan.

An avid sports fan, Mr. Galligano was a devoted fan of the Rangers hockey team, the New York Yankees and football Giants. His favorite teams, however, were the ice hockey, softball and baseball teams his children played for.

He loved going to the games and cheering us on,'' said his son, Ryan. He was a real family guy.'' His son said Mr. Galligano was known for his kind words and punctuality. He never had a bad word to say about anybody,'' he said. And, he was always on time never late for anything.''

Mr. Galligano was a parishioner of Our Lady Help of Christians R.C. Church, Tottenville.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, the former Ellen Donoghue; two sons, Greg and Ryan; a daughter, Ellieanne Galligano, and one grandson.
