Catherine Holley, 66, of Rossville, a former bank teller and homemaker who took time to smell the roses, died Tuesday in Silver Lake Nursing Home, Brighton Heights.

Born Catherine Luby in Brooklyn, she was brought to Staten Island as a child. She grew up in Tottenville and moved to Rossville 30 years ago.

As a young woman, she worked as a bank teller in St. George. Later, she became a homemaker.

Mrs. Holley attended New Dorp High School.

In her leisure time, she enjoyed ceramics.

She also liked to celebrate holidays by cooking for her family.

In addition, Mrs. Holley loved spending time with family members, especially her grandchildren.

She always told loved ones not to take any day for granted, advising, Don't forget to take time to stop and smell the roses, they recalled.

Mrs. Holley attended Our Lady Help of Christians R.C. Church, Tottenville.

She is survived by two daughters, Kristin Rubel and Margaret Holley; a sister, Margaret Montalbano, and five grandchildren.

Arrangements, including cremation, are being handled by Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, with a mass Friday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady Help of Christians R.C. Church, both Tottenville.
