STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Alexander A. Arrighi, 68, U.S. Army veteran, died Monday in Staten Island University Hospital, Ocean Breeze.

Born in Brooklyn, he graduated from Lincoln High School before moving to Eltingville in 1974.

Mr. Arrighi served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army, stationed in Vietnam from 1965 until 1967. He worked as a city corrections officer at Rikers Island for 17 years.

In his leisure time, he enjoyed watching old movies, cleaning his garage, and spending time with friends and family.

“He was meticulous about cleaning the garage, it was very organized and people were always commenting on it. It was his pride and joy,” said his daughter-in-law, Lauren Arrighi.

Surviving are his wife of 38 years, the former Connie La Chiana; one son, Robert; one brother, Thomas Arrighi, and one sister, Joanne Hood.

The funeral will be Friday from the Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home, Tottenville, with a mass at 11 a.m. in St. Clare’s Church, Great Kills. Arrangements include cremation in the Rosehill Crematory, Linden, N.J.
